Caveat:
This isn’t my 1st, 3rd, or even 5th time writing about this very subject, and it certainly won’t be the last time--this time.
I will in fact, be quoting my own work in this piece as well as just speaking from the heart-on a mission to ERADICATE the usage of this repugnant word-
N I G G E R and any variations.
I can’t pinpoint where this hard left turn began, but I would love an END date.

Now, perhaps I am the ONLY Black person in the world who sees this word-this way, so, an open challenge is ALWAYS in effect:
explain to me, in a way that is LOGICAL and satisfactory why using this word among each other, in music, comedy, etc., why is this a good thing to have kept-a leftover chain from slavery?
Africans, modern African Americans/Blacks, are probably the most creative people in the world; leading in a plethora of fields yet, no matter what progress is made for "US", there's an immediate return to this vile word.
There's a cornucopia of other words in ALL of the English lexicon that you can use to express what you wish to convey, yet, this is how you see yourselves, and for that, I'm really sorry.
Why THIS word as "THE WORD"?
Why not hang on to Jiggaboo, or Watermelon, or Darkie?
Why hold on to this wretched word with NO RELEASE in sight--is what I can't figure out?
Why don't we hear "White" folks greet each other "Hey my Honkey, wassup?" Or Hey Ofay, wanna' hang? I'm guessing, because it's a ridiculous thing to do, which applies here.

I made a hard detour in the mid 1980’s when it came to music and THAT word. I listened to R&B and Soul, and RAP, before it became bleached enough to be hip hop, yet Black enough to be dangerous.
That’s how began my love affair with Rock & Pop genre music-along with the aforementioned genres because that word wasn’t there, and I clung hard to that fact and still do.

Let's be clear that using this word does not negate TALENT, at all-but it's past time to do better.
My all time favorite comedian is Richard Pryor, and he used that word A WHOLE LOT-but he remains a master storyteller and comedian no doubt.
He, however, opened doors for Black Comedians in a tremendous way. So, why oh why, are comedians who followed his presence STILL using it? No progression whatsoever?

I am a fan of NWA, Eazy-E and his sound/flow. But, the word is the first word in the name of the group; which for marketing purposes at that time, may have seemed the thing to do, but, it became a total THING, a beast that must be slayed!
All of a sudden, the word is everywhere, in everything and folks keep raking in the cash while assassinating the cause, and I couldn't take it anymore.

Music, comedy, movies, everyday conversation-became and remain sincerely infested with it, and it started to feel then as it does now, an ear lashing!
I HATE IT, I REALLY DO!
I use it in pieces like this one, to bring awareness-that this is so NOT OKAY!

This degradation is passed on generation to generation like an heirloom and it's a relic of slavery. THIS, is something WE NEVER WERE--and you fools have embraced it? Why?

I watched and listened to everything my kids came into contact with trying to shield them from this disgrace, even giving explicit instructions to my husband at the time, my friend, my sister, whomever I knew listened to that type of music, to not play it while my kids are in their custody; but of course, people don't always respect your requests.
I've heard people call little kids lil' NIGGAZ, the first Black president-Black people called him a nigga', no matter the progression, y'all refuse to cut the last slave chain, and at the pathetic end of every day, that is the mealy-mouthed mantra, and it's not okay!

If you knew your history, the real one and not the Christian mixtape, maybe you'd think differently of who WE are and demand better for yourselves and OF yourselves...of course, if "IF" was a FIFTH...well, you know the rest.

I’ve been dealing with a pandemic for decades now, Before COVID-19, DURING COVID-19, and probably AFTER COVID-19.
A pandemic that is endemic in and among the African American/Black community:
This willy nilly "Free for All" use of ANY derivative of the word
 "N I G G E R".
It is an ABOMINABLE ATROCIOUS word and so too, is ANY OF IT’S REPULSIVE OFFSPRING like N I G G A, NIGGAS, NIGGAZ, NIGGUH, etc.; and in the same breath, tell white people they can’t use it--a word they invented to degrade us-but, Black folks can, in any way, is a TRULY outstanding concept.

We cannot expect the world around us to become better for us--and we're not willing to become better for "US"; that is the height of hypocrisy and wholly unacceptable!

We can't change what's around us until we change what's within us.
We can't have a calendar that has MLK's Day, JUNETEENTH,
and Columbus Day: but how can we be taken seriously if at the end of ANY day, by your own words, Black people are reduced to this putrid palate?

I don't use the word unless in writings or spoken pieces AGAINST it, I don't listen to music that contains it, and I HATE Black folk using it in ANY WAY that isn't a direct quote for a direct purpose.
With that foundation laid, I know that anyone White approaching me using it must be ready for a beat down--straight up!
So, they don't get that out saying, "well y'all use it all the time"--not me bitch; now, allow me to lay hands on you in the name of Black Jesus!

Excerpt from "BLACK":

We are the...ORIGINAL INDIVIDUAL...
Any "race" that exists now...until the last one left...
Does so, because the African drew the first breath...
MAGNIFICENT…

YES!!!
And, historically true....
My Black is beautiful...
And yours is too.

 "NECESSARY MEANS"
--By all necessary means…
--with these words, allow me to intervene…
--disrupt this quite clouded vision…
--replace that view with a completed scene

--the alpha—is African
--please believe and do not be further deceived
--this genesis requires emphasis
--we are all children of the AFRICAN Eve

--in this…there is only one mystery…
--how we became so removed from our place in history?
--black is damn sure beautiful…
--it is in our strength where I would love to see…
--“US”…
--stop hangin’ each other from the family tree

--brothas killin’ brothas…
--same ole’ shit, different damn day
--brothas killin’ brothas??
--ya’ll asses formin’ a fuckin’ Black KKK!
--this passion, this fire in me…seems to get bolder…
--our young men and women should be growing older…not colder
--you began the world that’s upon everyone’s shoulder

--envision...a transition
--this is not a goal…it’s a mission
--delusion…prescribes confusion
--antidote…truthful intrusion
--an infusion…
--of the past…
--who is considered first, is really last
--“GREATNESS” we represented in another time, with a different cast
--the accomplishments of our people—was not limited…but vast
--any more questions…just ask…
--hard to see clearly when you’re wearing a mask…

--my prayer; God…please intercede…
--contributing to our own extinction…
--our culture is badly in need…
--of understanding Your divine intervention began with the creation of “WE”
--now lost inside our own discovery
--still in binding chains…on mind-bending terrain
--time to truly be free

We ARE the original INDIVIDUAL, and that is a matter of FACT, and it’s not up for debate-at all!
We know that Black Lives Matter, Confederate statues are being rightfully REMOVED, JUNETEENTH is an official holiday…
Now, Black People, can we get these NIGGAZ' outta' here?!
